Ok it all depends on whether you want to continue to go blonde or to go bak to dark??

if you want to go blonde get a prelightener kit and apply that so it goes to its lightest it can then get an ashy blonde hair dye and put it on top and it will turn out the desired colour as all of the red tones will have been stripped from your hair also use blue shampoo to counter act the red tones.

however if u want to go bak dark then just buy dark hair dye.

best bet would be to go to the hairdressers
Well my mom is a cosmotoligist, and once my hair turned orange after i dyed it blonde, it would turn that color because the color you put in it already faded out or because you didnt leave it in long enough, or you put something in your hair causing it not to catch. my suggestions is to bleach it and then color it blonde, if you still want it blonde, if not color it a darker color but it still would be best to bleach it and then color it so the color can grab.
I think you have to leave the colour in longer because your hair was dark.
ok I bought their strawberry blond type and i think with our hair color you can't go ashy blonde if you want blonde hair. You have to go get a bright blonde for it to work. So I would go the hair dresser and her fix it. i am not pleased with what happened to my hair but it looks ok. Kind of like my natural hair not an ashy blonde with pretty highlights. Your other option is to dye it brown again. You would probably like a hint of red color in your brown hair. However I heard that once you dye your hair red it is hard to get the red out. So you might want to think brown for a while.

Since your hair is so dark naturally, you will need to use a lighter color of brown to achieve a dark brown tone. My friend colored my hair last night with Revlon Colorsilk #90.

I had blonde hair with really dark roots showing. Now my hair is blonde, with strawberry blonde/reddish roots. I don't like it, ha! I want it to be blonde all over. How long should I wait before I try coloring my hair again to make it even?

You can do it whenever. In the salon I would do it right away but I wouldn't do it more than twice. You should really try a toner first. Something from Sally's would work with a PURPLE base. Mix it with 20 or 30 volume and only put it on your roots!! Wait a few mins while you watch it in the mirror. You will see the yellow/orange disappear and that's when you know it is ready to rinse. If you leave it on to long it will make your hair too pale and possible purple. But nothing a few shampoos can't take care of. have you tried toner on your roots? that would be the first thing to do and then mybe let it settle for a week and hve another go

if you get dark roots you should use a prelightener before you use the shade of blode you want.

if you hairs in bad contion id use a deep condioner first

just to be safe, about 2 weeks. the hair becomes weak and damaged if dyed too often. trust me, I KNOW ! haha

I've read the revlon or conair ion tourmaline dryers are very good too, so is it worth the money for the $$$ T3 or super solano? I don't have fancy hair.. it's fine and slightly wavy. what i want from the dryer really is to only give me SHINE, i don't really use it to style. I used to be a hair stylist and spent tons of money on hairdryers. Honestly, the really expensive hair dryers last just as long as the really cheap ones. Buy a small $10 travel hairdryer.

If you are looking for your hair to shine, what you want to use is a mousse like Biolage which has no alcohol in it that will dry your hair out. It was also protect your hair while you are drying it and keep the fly-aways down from having fine hair.

I have used Ferie once before and came out pretty good. I also used Garnier Nutrisse but it just didn't come out the color they said in the box. So I am not going to use Garnier.

I want to get my hair color like Auburn/Burgundy. (Like Feria #36 or #R37, Revlon #48) My hair is natural dark black.

I know Colorsilk is pretty cheap and read alot good reviews. I also liked Feria but I want to try out something different, and thinking about using Colorsilk this time. But not sure how it works...Which hair color product is better, L'Oreal Feria or Revlon Colorsilk?
Any colour you put in will not work because of your black hair.

For example, take a black crayon and colour a patch on a piece of paper. Now go over it with red.

set the temp. higher, and give it 10 minutes to heat up really good, put in hair straightening products and go over slowly, not to slowly though. and if it sticks straight out curve it in towards yourself a little,

If your hair is thick and wavy then definitely, turn the heat up!

Make sure you aren't trying to flat iron too much hair all at once, section it off and comb it before you run the iron through.

Also, make sure you aren't applying the coats of heat protectant too thick. This causes some weird reactions sometimes so stick with using just one product and make sure its even distributed throughout your hair.
My little sisters hair is like that too. She uses hairspray; try Herbal Essences. If you have the money i kno theres something that like hair salons can do that makes ur hair permenately straight, kind of like getting a perm but only straight.
You may need a better brand.

ok so my hair is black and i tried henna, cinnamon, a little lemon juice, and coffee powder to color my hair and left the color in for 4 hours and it only made the hair seem brown in the light. I've never tried Revlon Colorist, but I've used Revlon Colorsilk before and it works just fine. It's NOT just for gray coverage. It's pretty cheap and ammonia-free, and the colors are pretty good. Go for it!

Colorsilk is fine for any hair. It's the cheapest haircolor you can get. I Personally would use Garnier or Feria. Excellence cream is really good too, its thick and doesn't drip at all.

black is really hard to reverse if you dont like it. why dont you try a washin washout colour first which is temporary.

black can make people look really pale and ill looking.

Use honey - It's going to show up more and will do very well with the color of your eyes. Get smaller and less highlights though because you don't want to look like a whore.

About 3-4 months ago, I dyed my dirty blonde hair black. I finally convinced my parents to let me go a little farther, and I want to dye my hair raspberry red using a product called Splat (www.developlus.com)

If I use the bleach that comes with the product, will I get the striking results that they show on the box? Because I want to make sure that the black hair dye will be gone, or at least faded enough to dye my hair the right color.

There's this stuff I found at Walgreens ( I know wal mart doesnt carry it, by CVS, etc probably would)

It's called color OOPS, and its a color remover, not a bleach.

I dyed my hair black over the summer, and when it started to grow out i didnt want to do black anymore.

It took me back to my light brown hair!!!

But when they say RINSE, they mean it. I'm serious, like a good solid 15 minutes of shampoo and rinse shampoo and rinse again and again.

I had to do it twice.

The first time I didnt rinse well enough. I blow dried it was happy with the light brown color but when i woke up in the morning the color has already redeposited on my hair and it was dark again! UGH

So the second time I rinsed until i thought my arms would fall off.

It worked :) and its not harsh on your hair.

be warned though the stuff smells awful... like sulfur/rotten eggs/hair perm.

SO-- I'd use that THEN bleach it, then dye it and then USE AN AWESOME DEEP CONDITIONER and lay off too much heat styling.

That's a lot for hair to take.

If you can wait-- strip the color out..wait a few weeks..bleach it then dye it. Instead of all in one day.

I'd be careful when dying or bleaching over black. I dyed my hair black once and when I asked my hairdresser if I could change it back to brown she said there was a risk that it could go reddish or greenish if I tried to put another colour through it. She also said bleaching would be really bad for my hair. In the end I just waited for mine to grow out and my hairdresser advised me to just dye it dark brown next time as it's a lot easier and less risky to change.
You may want to go to a professional to have the color stripped, or use one at home to get the black out. Black dye can be ridiculously hard to get out through bleaching alone %26amp; if you want striking results, I would suggest trying Color Oops to strip the black first.

You can strip your hair out with a chemical purchased at the drugstore and dye it to the color you like. Then dye the color you want. Remember that on the first try you will not get the same results like the picture box.

Okay, I recently {about a month ago} dyed my hair brown {from a sort of bleached blonde-orange}. I want it back to blonde like, NOW {prom is tomorow night!}

I'm planning on bleaching it eventually anyway, but I want to wait awhile. My hair isn't in that great of condition--it's not extremely dry, but it's got a lot of split ends.

My hair colour has faded to about a light brown, which the dye I bought tonight {Revlon Ultra Light Ash Blonde 05} says it will turn blonde. I bought ash because I know that takes away a lot of the yellowy-orange tones.

Is this a lot safer than bleaching? This stuff has no ammonia in it, so I figure it's pretty good. Should I go ahead and do it, even if my hair's not in the greatest shape? I've dyed my hair lots of times before {my hair's never really been in that good of condition}, and it's been fine.

I used this same product last week on my hair. I dye my hair about every other month or so. My hair is a light brownish red color and I wanted something for spring and summer so I used it. It will give you really blonde hair. Mine was way too light for me and I had to go to the store and get a darker color and dye it the next day. Your hair should be ok, just remember to use the conditioner that came with it and to condition your hair after you shampoo for a few days, it will help your hair color stay a little longer and help your hair. It says to leave the Ultra Light blonde shades on for 45 minutes instead of 20 or 25. I left it on for the 45 mins and it was too light for me, so you may want to check it after 20 mins or so and see if it is the color you want or if you want it lighter. I wouldn't do it...your hair wont fall out..but I tried it and it had all different shade of like a gray and silver and even a little blue I almost died!!! I called the number on the box and they said it is very hard to go from dark to light on your own and the ash is what did it to my hair...it was terrible you could try it but it would be very bad if it ruined your hair and then the salon might not fix it right away if they think your hair is too damaged they might say you have to wait a week or so...after all they don't want to be responsible for something that could go terribly wrong...Good Luck!

Hi everyone,

Two days ago I dyed my hair using Clairol Natural Match in Light Brown. It turned out WAY too dark, and thanks to the peroxide, it looks slightly brassy--eww! I think it would look fine if I could add some highlights to it, so after reading all the rave reviews of Frost and Glow, I bought the Honey kit (for medium to dark brown hair).

My hair seems to be in pretty good condition, considering what it weathered with the dye. However, my hair (especially the ends) tends to be dry. Is it too soon to use the highlighting kit? Should I wait longer? Or should I just return it, get my money back, and hope the awful hair color fades naturally?

I want to achieve a platinum blonde look with this kit. I've used it in the past before, using the cap (painful process), and my hair turned out a golden blonde (which is what I wanted before).

A lot of it depends on your hair texture and your desired result. If you have a finer texture and want to lighten hair that does not already have hair color on it- liquid colors work very well. (The kind you pour from little bottles.) If you have a more course texture and want to diminish warmth in the hair stick to cream bases colors. If you are adding color only, not lifting at all then you will have the best result with a semi-permanent coloring product. For the consumer, L'Oreal has the most reliable options. I've used Nice n' Easy with good results. I'm a natural blonde and I use a very blonde tint. For years I've used Preference by L'Oreal and had excellent results with it.
I tried Nice n' Easy %26amp; it didn't give me good results. Yesterday I tried Revlon's %26amp; it worked great!

If your hair isn't really curly, this should be ok for your hair. Use a thermal protecting spray first, take small partings, slowly pull through your hair only once, and voila! Straight hair. This is why I never use box dyes hardly anymore. I dye my hair blonde all the time (the only color I use) and it always turns out exactly the same. I know you hate it now, but trust me, in about a week you'll be okay with it. :)

Ammonia free is usually considered safer for the hair than those with ammonia. I'm 40 years old, going grey and I use Clairol Natural Instincts and I get lots of compliments on my hair color and shine. It's mild enough to use every four weeks, and I use Tresemme shampoo and conditioner for colored hair every day and the color lasts.IS REVLON colorsilk...ammonia free safe for the hair?

It is still damaging but when you are finished dying your hair, buy Pantene Pro-v Restoritives CONDITIONER (for damaged hair) and let it sit on your hair for a few hours...
i tried revlon colorsilk and i really didn't like it. it seemed to fade very fast. herbal essence is a less-damaging brand as well, maybe you should check that out!

p.s. no hair dye is completely undamaging. the best way to cope is using deep conditioner. since it's summer you can put it in and then sit outside in the sun, it'll make it work better! i like the feria brand deep conditioner (you have to get this at a beauty supply store i think) and also the deep hydrating treatment by pantene pro-v.

either one will be good as long as it is ceramic, not ceramic plated. you also want to get one that gets to 400 F and about 1 inch think. I personality like conair or hot tools (helen of troy is the same comp but cheaper.)

I have been dying my hair for years, and have always used the cheapest brand available. I have no damage, and my hair always turns out fine. I don't really notice a difference in brands, although you do get more conditioner with the expensive stuff.
try spending a few more dollars on a more expensive brand, its worth it but if you want one of these brands, go with Revlon the color match is pretty close and it lasts along time :)

i'm asian and naturally would have black hair..but i've colored it brown last year w/ a at home coloring that i got at an asian store..it turned a little orange so i colored it dark brown..which ended up looking black a few months after. i waited a couple more months and then did the revlon frost and glow last night hoping for either caramel highlights or blonde streaks. i feared yellow or orange..or even red..and it turned orange..i mean pure orange! i'm told i can buy a blue toner at a sally beauty salon..will this help alot or will the effects be so subtle that i'd be better off coloring it dark brown again? thank you in advance!Used revlon's frost %26amp; glow on hair last night...turned orange..will blue toner work?
if you have a beauty supply store near you, not sallys but a supply store that sells salon products like Redken and stuff u buy in a salon. go there and get a Redken toner called platinum ice and get the processing solution to go with it. use the whole bottle of toner (about 2 oz) and use 2 oz of processing solution. put in it a bottle applicator and shake it to mix it up. it should turn purple. this toner will take out the orange. put it on towel dried hair (you can put it all over because it will not do anything to your dark hair, only the blonde) leave it on until there is no more orange. up to 10 minutes but it shouldnt take that long. i would say about 5 minutes should do the trick. you want to watch it b/c if you leave it on too long, it will cover up the blonde and it will start turning a little brown.

NOTE: if your whole head is orange and you have no more dark hair, i would get 2 bottles of platinum ice and use 4 oz of processing solution just to make sure you have enough to do your whole head

i had foiled blonde hair like yours and it had turned a little golden as it aged. i think if you want to go an ash colour go to the hair dresser as my hair went green when i put ash through it, it was horrible and expensive to fix. try some darker ash foils or more highlights thru your current colour instead of a dark block colour.to get used to it before you decide.. hope it all works out whatever you do :)

your hair will turn out fine, they wouldnt sell the hair dye if it had a chance of turning your hair grey or green, but it will turn green if you go into a swimming pool with high chlorine concentration until about a week after you dye your hair

Yes and no...

if you have really curly frizzy hair, it's not worth it because you'll have to go over it again and again, and it'll get damaged

I have the white one w/ red plates. I've had it since February and I haven't had any problems with it. It works just well as the last one I had and I paid 80.00 for that one.

Get the Chi ceramic hair straightener. It is expensive but it is the best one ever. It will starighten your hair no matter how curly it is and even if it is wet. It can be purchased from Trade Secret stores and runs about $125.00 but is warrantied. I have had mine for about 4 years now and have NEVER had a problem with it. It is better for your hair because it is ceramic. Sorry I have never heard of or seen the Revelon hair starightner. Get the Chi, I promise you'll love it!!

Unfortunately, your talking about a synthetic wig. This means that the ';hair'; is actually plastic, nylon or some other material. The stuff your using on it may not be made for your type of wig. i use Woolite, it is made for synthetic fabrics which is what ur wig is.
Don't know what kind of wig you have, but when you get ready to buy a new one ,look into Paula Young Wigs. I have a few and I don't use anything on them and they stay soft and manageable. I only order wigs made from Whisper Lite material.

Ok so i never even thought of dying my hair but me and my brother's girlfriend wanted to scare my mom so I wanted to dye my hair blonde.. im naturally light brown. You can't really lighten hair more than a shade or maybe two with consumer brand colors. PLEASE DO use a product like Casting color spa to go darker, it will make your hair feel and look healthier and you don't have to wait but a day or two to use it.I dyed my hair and it didnt work... does Revlon Haircolor Colorsilk ruin hair?

The web page didn't show up, but I would use dark auburn, I believe that med. auburn won't make it dark enough. It is really hard to tell with out seeing your hair first, you might want to have this done at a salon.

mix the dye with the developer. shake vigorously. apply it to the lighter sections of your hair first. apply everywhere else. leave in for like an hour. wash. shampoo. condition.

You mix the dye and developer together and shake well. Part your hair into small section (starting at the roots) and apply the mixture. Massage gently but dont rub in. Leave it in for about 25 - 30 mins. Rinse out with warm water until water runs clear, then wash gently with the conditioner.

mix colour developer and dye together in the developer bottle, shake well and apply straight away, leave in time is anywhere from 15 to 35 minutes depending on the tone you want to achieve, when finished rinse out till water runs clear and apply conditioner for around 5 minutes and rinse again, most dyes require your hair to be dry when applying also, and no need to shampoo hair after dying just apply the conditioner,, have fun

a. Honestly, Revlon stinks. Anything else would do. But I suppose you can work with it. Try and invest in ANY other barrel.

b. Hold the curl for atleast 30-50 seconds.

c. Try grabbing only 1/2 inch piece of hair. You will need to create smaller curls so the hair will stay.

d. Pin up half of your hair, do the bottom ';layer'; first, and then put the bottom layer back, let out the top half of your hair, and start curling it.

e. Use TONS of Dove Hairspray

f. Don't Use the Clamp to start out with! Wrap the strand around the barrel, and then let the clamp down.

g. Maybe go for the wavy look instead? Start wherever you want maybe halfway down your hair lenghth, wrap the bottom half of the strand around the barrel , let down the clamp, hold it HORIZONTALLY for about 45 seconds and let go of clamp, sliding it off the hair while keeping the barrel horizontal. Keep Practicing!

When you dye your hair, it's best to use Garnier Fructice (sorry if i didn't spell that right.)

The same thing happened to me, but I tried Garnier Fructice and my hair felt as soft as baby hair. I am very pleased with the results of their dyes.

Spray-in-conditioners should get it back to normal until you can color it again.

And condition your hair every day. It replenishes the oils that are washed away in the shower.

Oh...I also recommend that you leave the dye in for 45 minutes.

remington wet 2 straight is really freaking good for thick hair. you can straighten right out of the shower so you don't waste time blow-drying (my hair is thick also and blow drying took me foreverrr), and it has 35 or 40 different heat settings, so if you only need to touch up you can use a cool setting, but if you need heavy duty power you can go all the way hot. and if i remember correctly, mine was $30 and i got it at walmart, so it's definately very affordable.What is better,Revlon,Andis,Conair,Vid鈥?sassoon,Hot tools Remington wet2straight??Thick hair (tight budget)?

As long as the dye doesnt have ammonia in it it's fine. I don't know the brands well but I do know that ammonia will ruin your hair. So whichever one you pick make sure it's ammonia free! It should say it on the package.

Well, that stuff does get clumpy after awhile right? It's not exactly the kind of thing a guy or gal wants to catch in their fingers while running though your hair.

You're only treating the symptom and not the cause. Have you thought to try other products like Rogaine or something, assuming you're losing hair due to genetics and old age.

no! shampoos and conditioners put a ';coating'; on your hair. if you wash it and then put dye in it, the dye will not permanently dye it. the dye will just come out during the next wash because it didn't really soak into the hair.

ur kinda dumb for letting ur friends do that. and u shouldve read the box more. it says that it will wash off without proper care. u have hair trouble, and the only way that you can get the color out, is to dye it back to strawberry blonde.
I use this stuff, for one you should stay away from the ash colors...It does not wash out of your hair you will have to try to find a color close to yours and dye it again, this will be the cheapest way.

You should have good results going from light brown to dark brown. The dye will change the color of the hair that you dye but your hair color will stay fundamentally the same. I just recently stopped dying my hair after 20 years of constant dye and my hair grew in just as it was before the dye job began.

The highlights ended up basically dying my hair - and i hate it.

Would it be okay to re...highlight? my hair to streaks of its natural color. It's been three days so far, and this almost white look is driving me crazy.I have blonde hair, and I bought a box of Frost and Glow highlight from Revlon.?

I think that would be a great idea. But might I suggest Garnier Nutriste, I have tried their product before, and it has worked out fabulously. If you still can't get it right, spend a little extra cash and go to a professional, so you know it won't be messed up.

I have blonde hair naturally, but had it jet black for a few years. I found the best colour was the Garnier 100% colour, but if you want your hair black then use the black dye, not brown. Black hair does fade over time, so it takes a bit of upkeep. Pantene now makes a shampoo/conditioner just for black hair, which would probably be a good idea to use.

You can use whatever color and brand you choose. Just be careful not to dye your hair too often.

Another alternative is to go to a salon to get your hair colored. It is a lot more expensive, but its definitely worth it!
Yeah dark hair will fade REALLY fast. use a powder based dye that will latch on to hair and stick to a full color longer. Try the Garnier. Good luck!

not that specific blow dryer no, but I do use a revlon hair dryer that has a diffuser. I don't use the diffuser as much however, although I probably should..

well i dont know if u have them, but in australia most hair salons/girls whatever use the GHD styling iron. best straightner out for sure! takes 7 secs so heat up to full heat! soo great!..(ghd) means good hair day

How does this product work on people with long hair? (Mine is halfway down my back) You have to wear the highlighting cap, so what about all the hair hanging out from under the cap? And is there enough product in the kit to cover all your hair if you want lots of highlights? I use it sometimes and my hair sounds to be the same length as yours. I don't do a whole lot of highlights, but if you are planning to do a lot you may want to get to kits just to be safe. If you don't want to get any on the rest of the free hanging hair, you can just wrap a towel around to cover that hair. Really if you accidentally spill and highlighting mixture on the hair you aren't highlighting, you can just wipe it off and it shouldn't do any harm. No there probably won't be enough that's why you need to buy the bleach %26amp; developer separate (also the cap) not a kit %26amp; you can get a higher volume developer. But long hair is hard to pull through a cap so use baby powder so it will slide through easier, it won't affect the color. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply they have more professional products %26amp; they can assist you in your purchase %26amp; the prices are better.

i have revlon perfect heat 1'; flat iron

my hair already naturally straight, slightly wavy

but i straighten it almost every day in attemptt for a pin straight, smooth look.

thing is,

it straigthens i guess but my hair looks STRANDY [only way i can describe it. haha.]

like instead of my entire head of hair smooth together, its [almost] stringy, but strandy is a better word. its not extra thin/disgusting, just.. strandy

i'm hesitantt to buy chi or expensive straightener because my hair isnt curly or anything.

she has thin hair if thats the case i would try and not straighten it as much as possible because it may get damaged easier and get even more thinner...

however if u have think hair then i would sugest that u get a babylis pro 2 inch with the comb i find it makes your hair much straighter then a chi and it is alot cheaper and it straightens ur hair faster

If it looks standy I'd try a volumizer or root booster before hand. I know they sound scary but it gives hair a little extra boost.

Don't straighten your hair it can burn it off! Just blow dry your hair straight. No need to torcher it w/ a flat iron. Or use shampoo that makes your hair straight and shiny.

Lightening my hair with Revlon Colorsilk?

It's been a while since I've dyed my hair, so my roots have grown out, but it doesn't look terribly bad. I have jet black asian hair that melts into a dark golden brown and then lighter into a light golden brown (from my previous dyes).

Now, I want to lighten my hair and go into a completely light golden brown bordering a dark blonde. Do you think that the Revlon Colorsilk can do that for me because that's what I usually use and it seems to work fine when I want to go brown, but I've never gone lighter... so I'm assuming I'm probably going to have to get a really light shade like a really light blonde shade and I'm wondering if you guys think it will work. I know that bleaching it or using another method may be easier, but I'm wondering if the Revlon Colorsilk will be able to work just as well since it did lighten my hair before from jet black to a medium brown without bleach.Lightening my hair with Revlon Colorsilk?
i am a hairstylist. so my best answer would be not to do it because you dont know which level to choose, and if you go too light your hair has alot of red undertones that will come out and mess with that brown you want to have. It can easily all go wrong. also you have alot going on with your head. if you want to stay away from coloring, color your hair your natural color. If you want to lighten your hair you need to go to a salon and they can lighten it without bleach and tone down the rest so you have 1 even color.

you probably won't see a large enough of a difference for the results you want.

in my personal experience revlon colorsilk is not a good product because the dark brown i used washed out in a week even though it was supposed to be permanent.

don't worry you'll be ok. since ur hair is very dark brown it will take like an orange shade to make it really red. i have very dark brown hair as well. i dye it chocolate brown and for me to get that shade i practically pick up a blond dye or dark blond dye and it makes my hair chocolate brown. weird right?

Dont get the revlon one.. i have the same hair as you and i had a revlon falt iron.. omg it was haorrible... i had the same problem with wanting a chi...but i searched alotta stores and conviced my mom to payed half of it and i had to earn the rest...the chi is soo worth it omg.. i love it.. it works soo good.. it heats up in like 3 sec. when the revlon heated up in like 10 minutes.. omg it stratiens my curly thick hair so well...i would reccomend it..

I hate Revlons irons. I've had 2 of them, and I've used several that other people have. They don't get hot enough.

Go for a Remington Wet2Straight. They're about $25-$30 at WalMart. It's amazing for the price.

The Remington irons are amazing, especially considering their price. My instructor and I both use them in the salon. I have two :-) One for curling under and flips (has curved plates) called a Wet2Style and the regular flat iron...but never iron your hair wet or damp, always make sure its completely dry and you use a thermal protectant spray or serum.
Use the wet to dry version, just do your hair in sections. What I do is use clips, I clip up a bunch of hair, do a section, then bring down the next layer do that, next, etc etc.

Hairdresser speaking! Ash is a green base. Unless you had a lot of warmth in your own haircolor to counter the green base, ash will become gray, or worse green! Also, everything else you have done to your hair prior to this is a factor in your results! Don't do your own hair color at home. Hair stylists don't tell you this because we want your money. We actually enjoy helping people look good. First of all, if you aren't a hair stylist, you know nothing about color theory, hair structure and the chemical processes. Second, those over the counter products are trash! You can't rely on the shades on the box and the name they give. They don't produce quality results even when you don't goof up and they are harsh on your hair. Go to a pro. Don't attempt to fix this yourself. It is costly to correct color professionally but at least you will still have hair when you are done. If you start trying to fix this yourself, you will probably make it much much worse. Corrective color is tricky. You already goofed up on hair you liked. What makes you think you can fix ****ed up color?!?!?! Go to a professional now! I don't mean to be mean. I'm really trying to help. I've seen women in my salon in the past come in crying because of the same thing. They goofed and tried to fix it. By the time they came to me, they had spent $20 to $50 on stuff at the store and ended up paying me an additional $100-$150 to fix it...that's a lot of money...not to mention they spent hours on it at home and then 4-10 hours with me. If you don't stop, it can turn into something really horrific that costs that much and takes that long to correct. So, if you care about your hair and you sound like you do, stop now and call to make an appointment with some one who knows corrective color! I'm not sure but I have heard if you dye your hair while you have highlights it can throw the color off.
Uh oh, you've got a problem!I feel for ya. Did you put it on light hair? Ash often turns a grayish greenish tone on already lightened or blond hair. You'll probably have to see a hairdresser.(Or You could try to wash your hair w/ a clairifying shampoo several times and then re-color w/ a light blond shade, not ash! I can't guarantee this, though.)Hope it turns out alright.
try calling their call center, the number should be on the box. tell them what happened and they can tell you how to fix it. if they aren't open, then i would recommend an emergency trip to a salon. good luck girl, i feel bad for ya!
For one thing STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT SAYS ASH on the box. With an ash color....ash brown, ash blonde, you very well may get gray hair...think...what color are ashes? Ash is gray so what you are really buying is a color with gray undertones. Your best bet now is to go now and buy a permanent color as close to your natural color that you can get but go one shade darker to make sure to cover those ashy colors up. Because you used and ASH shade you should use either natural or golden, but now that you have already done it you need to use the golden. Make sure to condition really good befor and after coloring your hair the socond time! Good luck
it depends on what color your hair was to begin with. but it would be because ash is gray. ash brown is gray brown and its usually used to dye out red tones. i used to dye my hair red and every time i tried to get it brown again it always faded back to red. so i used an ash brown because the gray tones down the red and now its my natural color. but if your hair was really light brown, dirty blonde, or blonde, it would turn gray because its an ash tone and thats what it does

neither really. but if your going to get one, get one with the higher moisture content.

There is a palmolive conditioner in a dark pink bottle that has coconut extracts. that is the best super cheap one i would say. or garnier fructis for dry damaged hair (although depending on your hair it may be perfect or a disaster, ive heard different reactions from different curly haired ppl. i love it, my sis in law hates it) id go palmolive to start with.

curly hair needs more than a good conditioner to look fab. you must take super care of it... believe me i know, its taken me yrs to discover how to care for my wild, dry curls.

firstly, when you dry your hair with a hairdryer, scrunch your hair a bit with a towel to get excess water out first, put a heat protective spray or serum in it (it can be a cheap one, the more expensive ones are better but cheapies are 100x better than nothing!) and use a diffuser on the end of your dryer. They are big round things you can attatch to your dryer. some dryers come with one, others you can just take into a salon and get matched up with one, they arent expensive and they are FAR more gentle on curls when having to use a hairdryer which is sooo bad for your dry curls.

second, MOISTURE. any products you use must be rich in moisturising agents. Shampoo and conditioner made specifically for curly hair, such as ';Tigi catwalk curls'; are best, but at high prices we arent all able to afford that kind of treatment, so for those on a budget, get shamp and cond with things like aloe vera... almond oil or the best, coconut extracts. Infact you can buy 100% coconut conditioner for a reasonable price from cheap beauty stores like Priceline.

when you go swimming in a pool or at the beach, put plenty of leave-in conditioner in your hair before you go, because chlorine and salt water eat away at your already dry hair. putting this on before you go acts as a barrier to help prevent more frizzies and dryness.

a super cool and effective treatment for your hair, that costs less than a busfare, is LEMON! squeeze (with an old school juicer) one or two lemons, depending on how much you need for your length, and while in the shower before you shampoo, put it all thru your hair. it will cleanse your hair of all the built up product that has been weiging your hair down and making it look dull, and the natural acid cant hurt your hair. plus if your blonde or have highlights it can really pick up a shine and brighten the colour! Its cheap and super effective!

Both are equally useless. Compare what's inside both of them, it's all the same.

Never take a chance with your hair. Once the destructive mechanism of chemical formulations starts, it's not easy to stop, with hairloss being the most severe. And all these will work silently against you without you even realising, till you suddenly wake up one day and see that problem has become pretty unmanageable.

Advice: Go for natural/organic options. Or atleast ones that have some positive stuff to offset the negative of chemical based products.

i have always like feria color or hydrience dyes they come out the most tonal besides the high deminsions line by revlon. have you ever thought of using the color expert line (i believe it too is by revlon)? that provides your own wand to put in your highlights( they can be small or chunky and any where you deem fit.. esp if you want to highllight your face, and these highlights are more natural in color and not anything like he ';skunk'; like highlights im sure you know what im talking about lol ) and the base dye as well those have also turned out nicely for tonal golden brown hues:)

im not quite a blonde and not quite a brunette but those dyes seem to set the best as well with my hair :)

No, the revlon straightener is terrible. You should buy the Global Beauty CHI ceramic hair straightener. Its about a hundred and thirty dollars but worth every penny!!! My friend bought one on ebay for about fifty so you could probably find a cheaper one on ebay as well.
The only straightener that i know of that keeps your hair straight even when the weather is humid or raining is ghd irons. I have very curly hair and i use the ghd hair irons and my hair is made sleek and shiny and frizz free.They really are a miracle.

what you do is take a shower then blow dry ur hair upsidedown till its competly drythen leave it for a few minnutes then take a comb and brush it through it worked for me and i have a flippy cut and it works

I have dark brown hair with some grey. I have red and ash lowlights which have grown out half way.

I don't have a problem with experimenting but right now I have a few weddings to attend :) so don't want to go for a color which won't go with my clothes or will limit the make up colors I can use.

Will I have this problem with either Burgundy Brown or Dark Red Brown? I want to be able to use pink lipsticks for one and shades of purple, etc. From the pictures at the site ( I haven't yet seen the box), the burgundy looks more brown brown while the Dark Red brown seems to have this lovely red sheen to it.

I once used a Red color of Feria and it went an icky orange on my hair so I really don't want to risk something like that. Even getting my hair dyed professionally only got rid of the orange color for 2 weeks and then it was back. Well Feria is a strong color for sure. I guess I picked the wrong color then ... it was too carroty for me :)

If you anchor them in when you clip them in they should stay in unless you have very fine thin hair.... Try putting them closer to the crown and not so low.... and put as much hair in the clip as possible....How do you put in revlon synthetic hair extensions?

If your hair is jet black naturally, it is going to be near impossible to get your hair that color without coloring it too many times and making it damaged. Your best chance will be to go to a salon and have them tell you if they think it is possible, let them do the color on it and if it works....then from then on you can use a box. I would leave the first try though up to a professional.

Girl, honestly I don't think it will even show up. If you want to do a noticeably different color as streaks, or under the bangs, then you're going to have to bleach your hair and put a color over that. I think dying your hair is stressful for it any way. If your hair is weak - it could seriously cause some damage. Would you rather have hair or have less hair, weaker hair but hair that's the color you want?

Okay, so I have medium-brown hair and I am trying to get it to an auburn color. I went to the store to see if they had the color I was looking for and they had Revlon Colorist Light Auburn 65 and Medium Auburn 55. I was wondering if either of these products was any good, and which one might be better for me to use.Revlon Colorist Hair Dye?
I also have medium brown hair and for Auburn you'll have to lift your hair, because it is a lighter shade.

When it has the numbers on it indicates the depth of the colouyr. So 65 is darker then 55 so personally, because you'll be trying to life your hair i'd go for the Medium Auburn 55 because it should give you the effects of the Auburn 65.

I straighten my hair every year at a salon and now I have permed wavy hair. Sometimes I get bored and wish to straighten my hair myself. I do not want to spend over $50 on a straightener but a regular or rather cheap one as long as it straightens my hair.

Well, I recently got an Infinit by Conair straightener and curler. It is pretty good.

Make sure you buy ';ceramic'; straighteners/curleres (it should tell you on the box if it it ceramic). Because it dosen't damage your hair as much as the non- ceramic straighteners/curlers

well...to be perfectly honest, both brands suck...i know because i had both and neigher lasted longer then 3 months...so if you want a GOOD straighter, then get Hot Tools (professional) and its only about 35-40 dollars depending on which you choose and its lasted me 4 years so far and counting, so i would say invest in a good one instead of getting a cheap one because in the long run, the cheaper one would end up being the more expensive one since you will probably have to keep buying new ones, so you really do get what you pay for...My hair is really thick and curly, so maybe thats why the others didnt work, and maybe im just rough with my straighter, but i would get the more expensive one...and its even under $50....at least it was when i bought it for my sister last year....I hope that this helps....:)

I would say Revlon is better. Sometimes you can find a hot tools straightener on sale, which would be a lot better because that is a great brand.

I've tried both.

Revlon is cheap %26amp; has no ammonia, so it won't damage hair as much. But if you're trying to lighten your hair, it's probably not the best brand to use.

Garnier is a mid-priced brand, has ammonia (more damaging), and the colors are pretty nice %26amp; tend to last longer.

It depends on what you want, I guess.

Yes and no. There really haven't been any in depth studies on the subject, so it is unknown whether or not it has any effect.

If you want to be on the safe side, I would wait. However, I dyed my hair with Natural Instincts while I was pregnant with my daughter - no ill effects as far as I can see. :)

Yes it is okay to dye your hair when your pregnant. The only time you shouldn't do it is when you are in your 1st trimester. I've dyed my hair twice when I was pregnant (I got permission from my doctor first of course) and I delivered a healthy 7lb baby girl! Good luck and congrats :)
I'm at 9 weeks and my doctor told me not to dye my hair at all until after the baby is born so if I were you, I'd wait two more weeks until after the baby has come. Anything you do to yourself, spreads to the fetus. That includes hair dyes.
The only reason dying your hair is harmful is because you could inhale the chemicals. I would suggest doing it in a VERY ventilated area and/or wearing one of those Doctors masks that go over your mouth and nose.
Most doctors will okay hair dye as long as you are not in your 1st trimester. Just make sure to have the area well vented.
As long as you're past your first 3 months (which you are) it's perfectly safe to dye your hair both at home or at a salon. Though donig it at home when ou have a huge pregnancy bump can be awkward!

I use it all the time, its perfectly fine, just as good as the orthers, but cheap in price. The color is good, Im using Dark Blonde, and i love my color ! I use 2 boxes at a time for more even coverage, costs even less than 1 box of the fancy stuff. No ammonia, most hair colors now a days does not have ammonia in it. Read the label.

I don't think its chemical free. I have super sensitive skin and have not been able to use permanent haircolor for years because of irritation. I just used Revlon Colorist and VOILLA!

Yes I like it because it contains no ammonia,so it doesn't have that strong smell like a lot of the hairdyes do plus it is not as expensive.
I prefer to use the Herbal essence dye, it has no amonia, and its way better for your hair, Revlon is good too, but it hurts your hair more.

You can buy a box of the auburn color you use. open the color bottle and the developer. In a glass bowl, pour only 1/3 of each bottle and mix. Close both bottles tightly. Use a small artists paint brush to apply to your roots. If you are covering gray, try to use a shade one step darker than the color that is on the rest of your hair, because it shows up lighter on roots - not a good look, just keep it off the rest of the hair when applying to roots. Save the bottles in a cool, dark place and you can repeat the process when necessary. Three applications for the price of one!

Once the contents are open they begin to degrade and break down rendering them one day , usless.. the chemicals in them as well may alter and not function as they are supposed to.

You can try misxing only a certain amount up for what you need and then capping the rest, I would not leave it more than a couple days though.

When and if you do only use a bit dont mix the entire contents together.. mix a bit seperatly in a glass or other non metal bowl.

If you read the instructions that came with the Dye it will tell you pretty much the same thing.I bought revlon black hair dye.. and was wondering...?
I do it all the time. Use half and half portions. As long as you keep each dye in it's own container, don't mix what your not using.
Usually in the directions,

it says it's only good up to a half and hour after being mixed.

So probably not.
if you just want to test pieces of your hair, then you shouldn't mix the products. here is what you do. you very itty bitty small portion of each mixture you were given and get a small bowl. mix them in the bowl and smear it onto the hair you want to dye. dont mix the products together in the bottle unless you plan on dying your hair right away.

It's actually really good for the price! I've used strawberry and golden blonde shades and I have been pretty pleased. I do not like the conditioner and gloves that come with the kit, though. The gloves are very flimsy plastic, so it's best to buy a pack of rubber gloves. The conditioner is just a one-time use packet, so I would get Pantene Restoratives deep conditioner to use after coloring, and once a week from then on. But yeah, it's great color to be so cheap... I've gotten it $5 for two boxes before!

ya thats what i use sometimes. it makes my hair really soft and shiny cuz i guess the dye actually makes your hair healthier then when it started and the conditioner makes your hair feel amazing. i went from like dirty blonde to dark dark brown and it looked really good.

That's why you never use a box, plus they fry your hair. Return it and go to a real beauty supply, like Sally Beauty. Buy a cool blonde color, one with a green, blue, or purple base to prevent your hair from turning orange. My hair always turns orange with store-bought bleach if I have dye already on it. Without dye, it turns blonde, and it's naturally light brown (I think. I haven't seen my natural color in years). Try doing the allergy test where you take a little bit of your hair, mix some of the dye, and see how it turns out. But I just used one of Revlon's products to dye my hair dark brown... It turned out black. I followed the instructions and have been doing this for years, and it really pissed me off. So be careful using Revlon. I would have used something else, but most of the others test on animals.

they are great. i have one. they are wonderful!!
They actaully fry your hair like crazy! Most flat irons do! But i bought this really ausome flat iron, its called the corioliss pro . I bought it for about 120 $ Its actually healing my hair! Plus it heats up in seconds, i really reccomend this product =]
Ceramic hair straighteners are far better than any other straightener strickally for the fact that with the ceramic on there it will cause less damage to your hair and be less likley to burn your hair.

ive just used the revlon colorsilk product and i have almost half of the bottle extra of the cream.i use that to have my lowlights instead of dying my whole hair..so can i keep the remaining cream for later use if i want to re dye? if yes, how long...please state how long it is...Revlon Colorsilk hair dye question please!?
Nope. Once you mix the dye components (usually a small vial of liquid dye into the applicator bottle cream) you have to use it right away. It'll keep reacting, spill out of the bottle, and make a mess of wherever you're keeping it. Plus, it loses potency and won't color your hair a week from now, or whenever you'd use it again.

You can keep it as long as it takes to dye, rinse, blow dry, decide you need more color, and dye again, but only if that all happens in a few hours.

you should be fine dying over it. use a dye with 'ash' in it like 'dark ash brown' or 'lightest ash blonde' because it has less red pigment,it is based on blue pigment, and will blend to a more natural colour with not as much of an auburn hint to it.

you will find one at your local sallys store.

this shrinks any hair colour pigments and returns your hair to its natural colour.
go straight to a good haircutter place. you need professional help
Hey the same thing happend to me yesterday

I wanted to put blonde highlights threw my hair and my hair is brown and it turned my whole head like goldish blondish!

i also used revlon maybe theres something wrong with the product i think its too strong

but wait 2 days or so so u can get the feeling of that hair color and what ppl think of it

Oh no! I have been there. The instructions that come with most permanent and semi-permanent hair colors (the ones that contain ammonia or peroxide etc.) say to NOT do anything to it for at least a week. Why? Because the hair will still be ';oxydyzing'; for that period of time. If you absolutely can't stand it though I would certainly go ahead and take the risk of further damage BUT would select something that is perhaps SEMI-PERMANENT or even temporary until your hair has had time to get back to normal condition. Semi-permanent colors often do NOT have high levels of peroxide or ammonia! Be sure to check the ingredients on the package and use plenty of conditioner or even a hair reconstructor. (The later products do great even on very badly damaged hair but you have to apply them, then wrap the hair in a hot towel and leave it alone for 30 minutes or more). When you die hair that has been recently died you will run the risk of a chemical reaction and it could even turn your hair a GREENISH COLOR. Please do use something EXTRA gentle so as not to further damage your hair by chemicals or you can run the risk of that ';burned hair/frizz/lifeless'; look.

um this happend to me before..this is what i did i dyed it right away and it complete changed to a whole different color then what the box sed so if i were you would go to a hair specialist and ask wat you can do...
One day I dyed my hair 3 times - light auburn (came out purple), to light brown (still too much red/purple), to medium brown. My hair didn't fall out but definitely was dryer, and I had an irritated scalp for a week or so (nothing bad, just itchy).

The brands I used were Feria to Garnier Nutrisse. I've used Nutrisse in the past and have thought it to be good quality. But, these are permanent. Perhaps a semi-permanent would do it for you? That would be gentler on your hair and scalp, but would wash out over a month's time.

You can do it right away, but I would suggest that you use highlights to lighten your hair rather than an all over color. Its hard to strip the hair and it might b splotchy. Good Luck.

You first must find out are you cool or warm

I Think your cool skined because auburn hair would look awful on the skin tone giving it a yellow sallow green cast

I would recommend seeing a hair colorist she may recommend a ash blond for you.The thing is now she has to remove the auburn first all this is going to damage your hair
